January Classes

Jesus and His Gospels, by Doug Hoffer            doug hoffer
Sundays 12-1:30, January 10, 17, 24, & 31

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are the primary sources for our knowledge of Jesus’ life and teachings, yet they can often seem confusing or obscure to readers today. At a time when the larger, secular world portrays Jesus simply as a great teacher, it is more important than ever before that Christians have a solid grasp of who Jesus is and what he taught and did. Rather than pursuing an in-depth analysis of all four gospels, this class will provide the tools necessary to understand the big ideas behind each gospel and to read them more faithfully. If you’ve ever wondered why the gospels tell certain stories in different ways, why John talks so much about “the disciple Jesus loved,” or even simply how to talk with your agnostic or atheist friends about whether the gospels are historically trustworthy, you don’t want to miss this class.

                                  Kingdom Living, by Chris Swallow                                                        Tuesdays 7 PM – 8:30 PM, January 12, 19, 26, & Feb 2chris swallow

God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness yet we keep laboring to get what we’ve already got! We live with an Old Testament mind set, waiting for God to do something in our lives instead of awakening to the new life that’s already been given to us through salvation. We are leaving so much on the table and hobbling through life as if Jesus accomplished nothing on the cross. In this 4 week interactive class we will take an in-depth look at:

• our new identity in Christ;
• our oneness with Christ;
• the authority, power and ability of God’s Word in our life;
• how to face difficulty with more victory;
• confusing scriptures and notions that have diminished our trust in God and his word to rescue, save and help us in every moment of life.

Pies & Praise, by Mary Wolfmary wolf

While the pie is baking, we will share and pray for each other. Then we will enjoy the fruits our labor together (literally). Let know what kind of pie you want to learn to make.
