Italian Date Night

Posted by on Jan 16, 2018 in coming events, featured, Increasing Impact View

You are invited to our Italian Date Night Benefit Dinner!

The Italian Date Night promises to be tasty, romantic, entertaining and…meaningful. This for-adults-only event features delectable Italian food created by Italian-born Frank Minniti, live music to enjoy or dance by, and wonderful desserts to round out your scrumptious meal.

We suggest that you have someone put the kids to bed early, so that you can enjoy the evening unhurriedly, however, we will have limited childcare available at no additional cost.*

The event is sponsored by
Children’s Relief International
to benefit the
Tessa Grace Nutrition Center
serving the babies at risk in Mozambique.

The Tessa Grace Nutrition Center endeavors to save the lives of orphaned babies and babies whose moms are too malnourished to nurse them. The babies we take into the program are malnourished, underdeveloped, or dying. We provide life-saving formula, miracle mix (a nutrition supplement for older babies and their moms), health screenings, consultations, and education in nutrition, preventative care, and prayer.  The vast majority of women in this program are HIV+ and live in extreme poverty. Last year we were able to rescue 165 babies. With your help, we will be able to give the gift of life to even more this year.
With this in mind, the Italian Date Night will be a night to remember!

God’s Timing

God’s Timing

Hi, Friends of Vineyard DuPage,

Welcome to our blog about the new space we are moving to in the fall. This will be the place to find out more about the who, what, where, when and why of our move. Today, let’s look at when, by answering “Why now?”

God’s Timing

As most of you know, I didn’t plan this. The Board didn’t plan this. God planned this.

A few years ago, we looked for a bigger space. As Christians, we always want to reach out to more people, and we hoped a somewhat larger and well laid out space would help us do that better. We saw a couple of spaces that were for sale. One church was too big and expensive. Another was small and would present more problems than it solved. Besides, we weren’t looking to buy.

We needed to rent, and rental space that works for a church in DuPage County is pretty rare and, usually, expensive. We approached Wheaton College when Church of the Resurrection was moving out of a space they rented in the East Campus building at 1825 W. College Avenue in Wheaton, but the college wasn’t ready to make a decision; they weren’t sure if they wanted to continue renting out the space or not.

When we didn’t find a workable alternative, we worked to reconfigure our current space to the best of our ability. We bought chairs, improved the look of the main room, rented additional space for Kids’ Church and for the office. This year we upgraded the Kids’ church. (Had to make sure we can care for all those babies people keep having.)

This spring, the Hispanic Church tenant at Wheaton College, somewhat suddenly, decided not to renew their lease. They found space to share in a church in West Chicago to focus their ministry in a Spanish-speaking community.

Not by coincidence, the college had recently hired our own Mark Sargis to represent them on some zoning issues. The issues related to a different property, but Mark found out the guy he was working with also manages the property at 1825 E. College. During a meeting, Mark heard that the Hispanic Church was leaving, and he swooped at the opportunity. Within days, our leaders and I were doing a walk through and seriously considering whether the space would work for us.

We weren’t even looking, and God dropped the space right in our laps. Isn’t that just like Him to provide when we’re least expecting?

Stay tuned over the next few days, and we will post more of the story…

Trusting God,

Dave
