God’s Great Abundance

The Bible reveals that our Father wants to share His great abundance with His children: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). Through the Bible, He gives us wisdom for living life abundantly, which we define according to 2 Corinthians 9:8: “We will always have everything we need and plenty left over to share/give.”

Biblical Wisdom to Living Abundantly

  • It is more blessed to give than receive—Acts 20:35

  • Give and it will be given—Luke 6:38

  • Sow big, reap big—2 Corinthians 9:6

  • Where your treasure is, your heart is—Matthew 6:21

Under grace, we can choose to live “according to the abundance of His riches” (Phil 4:19), or we can choose to live “according to the ways of the world.”

The Wisdom of Tithing

The word “tithe” is derived from the Hebrew word for one tenth. The biblical concept of tithing is found in Malachi 3:10: “’…Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘if I will not open for you the windows of Heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” Additionally, Proverbs 3:9-10 says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, the first fruits of your crops, and then your barns will be filled to overflowing.” It’s simple wisdom: bring God your first 10%, which opens the door to God’s plan for financial blessing/provision.

We apply this principle to all increase in our lives: salaries, gifts, inheritances, bonuses, wealth transfers, etc. God has provided the wisdom of tithing for our benefit. It’s a basic wisdom principle that the Lord has used to finance His Kingdom through all generations. If we receive this revelation in our hearts and live it out by faith, we can walk in abundance beyond the ordinary.

Be A Blessing

Throughout scripture, the people of God are blessed so that they can be a blessing to others. We exist to overflow God’s blessings to our community.

DuPage Vineyard is committed to being generous for our church family, in our community, and in our world for the glory of God. We seek to extend mercy and justice into a broken world and to help people grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here at DuPage Vineyard, we rely on your generosity as we partner together to share the Gospel of Jesus, to see people transformed by God’s work in their lives, and to care generously for the community around us.

The Bible teaches us a baseline standard for giving: the tithe. When we give the first 10% of our income to the church, we put God first in our lives. Tithing is an act of worship that expresses our gratitude, faith, and love for God and others. Regular giving is also a spiritual discipline that has marked followers of Jesus since the beginning. This practice forms us into more generous people, and is an important part of what it means to make DuPage Vineyard your “church home”.
